It seems that everywhere you turn; the face of America is changing. We appreciate most of the changes. I remember my grandmother doing laundry with a weird looking "washing machine" that had rollers on the side. She even had to use a bucket to put water in it. However, some of the changes we are experiencing bring alarm and fear. Researchers paint the picture of religion in decline, confidence in the Church falling, the Evangelical population shrinking. The population in America is growing faster than the Church. The average church attendance has fallen to only 17.5%. And if current trends continue, attendance will drop to 14% by 2020. This is the bad news! However, the good news is that God's Word is still living. Life changes takes place when we keep Jesus Christ the center. It is a relationship - not religion that we seek. Each time the concept of the Church is written about in the scripture we are reminded that the church does not exist just for us; it exists for those who aren't part of us yet. I am thankful the driving force behind our motivation is not keeping the saint happy - it is sharing Christ's Love with others. I am proud of Carthage First Nazarene. We have many special opportunities to share with others. One is Kid's Blitz (Sept. 13-14). I ask from my heart for you to be in prayer for this outreach. Share an invitation with family/friends. Come and support as we share with others. Although the face of evangelism is changing - the message remains the same! Let's keep sharing the great message of Christ.Have a great month! Don't forget the new Bible Studies and Life Classes - there is something for each one. Please keep in mind about the Financial Peace University series. It is life changing! I love you all!Pastor Dustin

Our two Celebration Sundays were very blessed! Praise God, on August 3rd, we had a special speaker guest, our District Superintendent Dr. Jim Dillow. We received 13 new members and our record attendance was 110! We had a fellowship dinner following the service, having food from different Hispanic countries. Our congregation enjoyed that blessed day.The second celebration Sunday was on August 10th, when the Hispanic congregation joined the American Congregation for the evening service. We felt the Lord's presence, and we worshiped the Lord together. We also enjoyed the cake and ice cream. Praise God for this wonderful celebration! Our anniversary coincided with the Olympic Games, and we watched the high performance of many sportsmen and sportswomen. Hard training, discipline and couching with one goal in mind: to win the gold medals, putting in high the Nation's name. Our question is: Can we do the best for God's kingdom, doing constant training and discipleship for Christians? One question was made to a US swimming athlete: Are you wining because of your swimming trunks? His answer was: "my swimming trunk doesn't get up at five o'clock in the morning to train".Now we have a new challenge for the next years, with a plan, a vision and a goal for the Hispanic congregation: The multiplication through the "Master Plan".First: Make Christ-like disciplesSecond: Everyone be under a mentor or disciple-makerThird: Take a discipleship courseFour: Everyone becoming a disciple-maker or mentorThank you American Congregation for your prayers and support to the Hispanic MinistriesPastor Moises

Galatians 5:22-26 (NASB) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. [24] Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. [25] If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [26] Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another. In your mind's eye, put two trees side by side-a Christmas and an apple tree. On the one, ornaments are hung awhile, and then removed. On the other, the ornaments are not ornaments at all, but real fruit growing naturally from within. Some people are Christmas trees. They try to wear love like an ornament. They try to be joyful by their own efforts. They grudgingly try to be patient, kind, or gentle. They take a class in self-control. But without the indwelling of the Spirit, it's like hanging artificial ornaments on a dead tree. For the Christian, however, the character-qualities of Jesus Christ are produced within us by the indwelling Holy Spirit. The Spirit exhibits the love, joy, and peace of our Lord Jesus from within us as we walk in the Spirit. The Bible often compares believers to trees (Psalm 1:1-3; Jeremiah 17:7-8). Let us live and worship bearing much fruit for His glory!

JAIL MINISTRIES We have services held at the County Jail every Tuesday night. These services are with the Hispanics inmates. We have wonderful testimonies of many of them, of how those lives were changed by Jesus Christ. We had almost 120 inmates in the year and 40 of them accept to Jesus.Let me share with you this testimony: Panchita is a member from our Hispanic congregation. She filled a prayer request card for her son Jose on February 18. In this prayer request, she wrote: "Please pray for my son, he is in drugs." Two weeks later, she called me crying and said: "Pastor Moses, the police took my son and he is jail." He was in jail for 66 days and every Tuesday he came to the service that we had with the inmates. In one of this jail services, he accepted Jesus as his savior and this Sunday he will be telling us his testimony in our church; Praise the Lord!

FOOD DISTRIBUTIONEvery two weeks we pick up food from Compassionate Ministries of Carthage and distribute to the Hispanic families.

CLOTHING DISTRIBUTIONMany donated clothing and shoes from the Church Family were distributed among the Hispanic people. Thank you very much to our Church Family.

One of our Nazarene Compassionate Ministries is "The Potter's House" in Springfield, MO supported by our district. "The Potters House" is a homey atmosphere where college students love to come for a specialty coffee or a smoothie. There are numerous weekly Bible studies that students can be a part of. Some of you have asked how you can personally help support this ministry. Steve and Berna Proffitt, directors of "The Potter's House", have prepared an envelope and a note card to explain how you can give. These envelopes will be on the Welcome Center outside the Sanctuary for a few weeks and then placed on the west hall wooden rack near the Sanctuary. "The Potter's House" staff thanks you for your support of prayer and giving. If you have any questions, "The Potter's House" phone number is on the card in the envelopes.

....... we believe that God has an incredible plan for His teens. Just as He used David in a mighty way to take down Goliath, we exist to do BIG Things for God. We are founded on the verse found in 1 Samuel 17:40, "Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine."

God chose David while he was just a teen and then used him in mighty ways his entire life. We believe that God is calling today's teens in the same way He called David. They will do great things in His name and leave their mark on this world. Whether it is facing down giants, fighting for the spiritual lives of their friends, leading this generation, or simply worshipping God, we are called because we seek after God's heart.

Family! We seek to fulfill our mission of honoring Christ by helping the family and their needs of today. From the first moment you enter the doors of Carthage First Nazarene a sense of belonging is found.Uplifting worship, singing, practical Biblical teaching and warm acceptance is what makes our church a special place! Our ministries and services reflect our belief and mission that attending church should be enjoyable, uplifting and meaningful in developing a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our BeliefsOur church is a community of believers with Jesus Christ as its head. We seek to love, respect and care for one another as a demonstration of our love for God.

Our outreach is to those who have no church home. Many in our area are disillusioned with religion. They have felt the sting of legalism with its impossible demands. Some have seen hypocrisy. Others have had no religious background and therefore see Christianity as irrelevant. The missing element has been healthy relationships with mature believers in Jesus.

The Vision

Our vision is to reach our community and make a difference in the lives they live through the good news of Jesus Christ. We believe we can accomplish this through helping people discover God's purpose for their life through teamwork, creativity and excellence.
